Board-certified Internal Medicine Physician Assumes Hospitalist Duties

Dr. Frank Madla III, MD, has joined WellMed Medical Group as a Hospitalist.

Dr. Madla, board certified in Internal Medicine, will treat WellMed patients who are hospitalized at Baptist Medical Center in downtown San Antonio, in coordination with their primary care physician.

Dr. Madla received his undergraduate degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio , where he also interned and was appointed Chief Resident.

For the past 8 years, Dr. Madla served as a Staff Physician in the Emergency Department at Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital.  Previously, he was at the Texas Diabetes Institute as a Staff Physician and Medical Director of the Internal Medicine Group.  He also taught UT Health Science Center medical students as an Assistant Professor at the Texas Diabetes Institute and University Clinic Downtown.

The son of the late State Sen. Frank Madla Jr., he is Vice President of the Texas A&M San Antonio Foundation Board, and Chairman of its Public Relations Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Senator Frank L. Madla Jr. Natural Area.
