DPT Laboratories, Ltd., a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization, has completed a $15 million-dollar investment at its 450,000-square-foot Center of Excellence for Semi-solids & Liquids in San Antonio, Texas.

The new expansion gives DPT a substantial increase in capacity to its bulk manufacturing and packaging areas to support increased production demands. The majority of infrastructure expansion includes two bulk manufacturing areas and the addition of three manufacturing production filling lines. Other enhancements include the addition of clinical scale manufacturing capability for pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDI), lighting options for light-sensitive materials and advanced air filtration and handling.

"The most important element of this investment has been our ability to better serve customers with high-speed, cost-effective manufacturing runs," said Mark Fite, DPT Vice President of Operations. "These enhancements reinforce our commitment to our customers of being a one-stop CDMO providing a full spectrum of manufacturing capabilities from clinical and development projects through to full-scale production."

This center provides cGMP pilot, clinical and commercial scale manufacturing for prescription and over-the-counter products. The San Antonio center also includes a dedicated 60,000-square-foot  cGMP aerosol and pMDI manufacturing facility, a 225,000-square-foot raw material dispensing and distribution center and a 150,000-square-foot compounding, fill and finish area.

The Semi-solids & Liquids Center of Excellence in San Antonio will focus on prescription and OTC products. Aseptic manufacturing services will be provided at the Center of Excellence for Sterile & Specialty Products in Lakewood, N.J., and the Center of Excellence for Research & Development in San Antonio will provide pharmaceutical development support for both manufacturing locations.
