KidsSTOP Proves to be Valuable Service at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital, San Antonio, TX - March 24, 2010

The only full-service hospital serving the fast-growing community of Westover Hills in San Antonio, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills is filling a need for health care and some of the youngest patients are benefiting.  KidsSTOP is a service designed especially for pediatric patients that offers them a convenient place to receive a variety of tests and outpatient treatments.  KidsSTOP is part of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital.

“The purpose of KidsSTOP is to provide a child-friendly environment where outpatient-related visits can take place,” commented Jeff Bourgeois, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills, Vice President/Administrator.  “When developing the KidsSTOP concept, the intent was to create a place that could accommodate minor tests and procedures specifically for children that would help reduce their feelings of fear and anxiety typically caused by a traditional hospital setting.”  Having this program in place also helps keep patients from having to utilize the emergency department for such procedures or tests.

Since opening its doors in November 2009, KidsSTOP has been well-received by patients and their parents alike. KidsSTOP offers such services as lab work, X-rays, respiratory therapy, IV therapy and management as well as CT/MRI scans.  Additionally, KidsSTOP also performs surgical and outpatient procedures, including minor GI procedures, urodynamics, newborn circumcisions and suture removal, all of which are arranged or performed by a physician and usually allow the child to go home the same day. All tests, treatments and procedures administered at KidsSTOP must be ordered by a doctor and not require an emergency room visit.

KidsSTOP is located at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills at 11212 State Hwy 151.  Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  For information, call 210.703.9KID (9543).
