BioMed SA Expands Executive Committee, Elects New Members and Officers

New seats underscore organization’s commitment to bioscience firms and venture capital/investors

BioMed SA, the non-profit organization charged with promoting San Antonio's healthcare and bioscience industry, has re-elected officers for 2010 and expanded its Executive Committee to 19 members by adding an additional seat for bioscience firms and a new seat for venture capital/investors.

The two new seats will be held respectively by Dr. Ze’ev Shaked, CEO of Evestra, Inc., and by Dr. Paul Castella, managing general partner of Incyte Venture Partners.  Other newly elected Executive Committee members in 2010 are Graham Reeve, president and CEO of the Baptist Health System, and Dr. Todd Fruchterman, KCI senior vice president of research and development, chief technology officer and chief medical officer. 

These four new members join returning Executive Committee members Henry Cisneros, Dr. Steven Davis, Dr. Brian Herman, Dr. Robert Gracy, Dr. Louis Agnese, Dr. Bruce Leslie, Kevin Moriarty, Kenneth Trevett, Elaine Mendoza, Milton Lee, and Col. Mary Ann McAfee, along with ex officio members Mayor Julian Castro, Judge Nelson Wolff, Richard Perez, and John Wisniewski.  (Please see below for a complete list of these individuals and the sectors they represent.)

Re-elected as officers for 2010 are Henry Cisneros, Chair; Dr. Brian Herman, Vice Chair; and Richard Perez, Secretary/Treasurer.
