Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio Grants $4,842,937 to 2009 Award Recipients; $20,674,318 Awarded Since 2004
 
Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio proudly announces 77 grants totaling $4,842,937 this year to local and area organizations for its 2009 Awards Ceremony on Thursday, November 19. This year’s ceremony will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bright Shawl (819 Augusta Street). 
 
 “We are aware that many organizations have experienced a decline in donations again this fall, and we are glad that we could increase our 2009 grants,” said W. Frank Elston, Baptist Health Foundation President and CEO. “Although our endowment declined in the past year, we were blessed to have funds for this year’s allocations in an account that was not affected by the downturn in the market.”

•Grants are awarded to organizations within an eight-county region - Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina and Wilson
•National foundation giving will decrease 8-13% in 2009**; Baptist Health Foundation will increase giving by 7.8% in 2009
•In early 2009, Baptist Health Foundation granted $834,697 in scholarships to health care-related students
•In early 2009, the Baptist Health Foundation Mini-Grants Committee awarded $136,000 in grants of $7,500 or less to 24 organizations that support grassroots health activities
